My name is Sherrie Nelson. I am a mum to two gorgeous girls and I live and work in Chislehurst. I prepared for my second daughter’s birth with Dany Griffiths and when I found out that she had used the techniques that she taught to me to create The Wise Hippo programme, I knew I wanted to share what a fantastic experience my birth was and how these techniques can help other women.

When I fell pregnant with my eldest daughter over 12 years ago, I approached childbirth without much preparation or advice. I was never really told what to expect or given any advice regarding the tools I could use in labour or childbirth to help me birth my baby naturally and confidently. When it came to it, my labour was very lengthy and I felt scared. I felt that I had nothing to help me feel calm and confident that my body would do what it needed to if I worked with it. Therefore, I tensed as I was distressed which I have since discovered slowed my labour down. My husband didn't know how to help me or feel he even had a role.

After a long labour and the use of forceps (and quite a traumatised husband), our beautiful baby girl was born which of course made the whole experience worthwhile.

3 years later, I fell pregnant again and all those fears and memories came flooding back. Again I felt scared and almost dread the birth instead of looking forward to it as I should have been. I was determined to find another way.

That is how I came to be teaching The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme. I am truly passionate about teaching and supporting women in their pregnancy and birth preparations. I can work with you and your birth partner to ensure that you look forward to the birth of your baby, letting go of any fears by learning how to deeply relax and work with your body during labour and childbirth. You can achieve the right birth on the day.

These techniques have been life changing for me and they will for you too.
